Cabinet Installation

Cabinet installation is often a major part of a remodeling project. Whether you are doing a kitchen or bathroom remodel, or even remodeling a home office, new cabinets can play a big part in it. Cabinet installation is a mainstay for us, and we can guide you through this process, from selection to complete installation.

Before doing the cabinet installation, you need to purchase the cabinets. Here you have some options:

  • Buy them from one of the big box stores (think “Big Orange” or “Big Blue”). Unfortunately you won’t usually get the “perfect” cabinet design because those stores tend to sell the brands and designs that the corporate office instructs them to. This is based mostly on profit and availability, not on the type of cabinet that would look best in your home.
  • Buy them from the manufacturer. This also is not usually the most cost-effective way, because you are an individual and you probably only buy a set of cabinets once every 10 to 20 years. When you purchase in small volume such as that, you have no leverage to negotiate a lower price.
  • Buy them from me. This is your best option, and here’s why: when I buy from the manufacturer, I am buying in large quantities because cabinet installation is something I do all the time. Since I buy in large amounts, I can get a much lower price. I can cover my costs and sell them to you at a price that is lower than if you bought them direct from the manufacturer. And here’s another important factor – when you purchase the cabinets for your cabinet installation from me, you get a one-year service warranty from me, in addition to the manufacturer’s lifetime warranty. So this way you get a great price, big selection, and the best warranty available.

Now, let’s talk about the different types of cabinet installation:

  • Kitchen – new cabinets are almost always a big part of a kitchen remodeling. If the old cabinets are outdated, worn or even starting the break down/fall apart, it’s time for new ones. We will come out and take all of the necessary measurements so that we have that information at the time of ordering. Of course, each one will be flush with the others and perfectly level.
  • Bathroom – Installing bathroom cabinets can sometimes be a little trickier, because there is usually less space in which to work. However, we do this type of project all the time so the procedure goes smoothly. We will typically install a corner cabinet first (if there is one). It is critical that this first cabinet is completely level and plumb (front to back and side to side), and that the cabinet is perfectly flush against the wall. Of course, the cabinets have to be cut to allow for rough wiring and plumbing beforehand.
  • Built-ins – These are quite popular with our customers. If you have a room with a large wall such as a living room or library, you might consider a built-in. This is just an elaborate bookcase that incorporates a mix of shelving and cabinetry. We can show you pictures of some of our past projects if you are not familiar with what this is. They really are wonderful pieces of craftsmanship that add a lot of character to a room.

Whatever type of cabinets you are considering, and wherever you are thinking of having them installed, give us a call and we can discuss how to make those ideas turn into reality.
