Room additions are able to make a big change in your home. Some of our customers even find that it takes a little while to get accustomed to having that additional room being there as part of their house. Room additions can really improve the way you feel about your home and how you use the space in your home. Room additions can take on various forms based on the needs and desires of the homeowner. Each situation is different, but here are a few of the requests that we get fairly regularly: Additional bedroom> – The biggest fans of this project is often the children of the family. Now they each get their own room, instead of having to share a bedroom. Like adults, kids really like to be able to identify their own “space”, especially as they approach and go through the teen years. Room additions such as this are what make that possible. There are other practical uses for another bedroom also. Guests can stay with you instead of at a hotel, making visits from friends or family much more enjoyable. From a practical standpoint, the new bedroom also adds value and “sellability” to your home whenever you decide to sell it. Family room – This is another popular choice, and one from which the entire family can benefit. You can make part of the room a home theater and have a “movie night” with friends, or you can put in a ping pong table or billiards table very inexpensively. Maybe even an air hockey table. There are lots of options available, and this room quickly becomes the most popular room in the house! Of course, the way we proceed is based on the space and budget available. When we come over to discuss room additions and your ideas, we can provide some good advice for this project. Second floor addition – Occasionally when we bring up this idea, it is something that has not even occurred to the customer to consider. A 2nd floor is often a good option when discussing room additions and space on the property is not in abundance. In many cases, you actually end up with more square footage of space with the addition of a second floor room than if you just added another room on ground level. And your addition does not take up any of your yard space. Sunroom – if your home doesn’t have one, you might want to consider putting a sunroom on. This type of room is a wonderful place to spend a lazy Sunday morning. On a sunny day, you will get light in from all directions because the walls are made up mostly of windows. You might open a couple of windows that are across from each other to catch the breeze coming through. You could put a table and some comfortable chairs out there and use it as a great space for entertaining guests. And using the sunroom is not limited to just the daytime – some people like to sit in their sunroom at night during a thunderstorm. The view from all sides makes it great to watch the lightning flash while listening to the rain fall. Nature puts on a better show than anything television has to offer! We handle room additions in the same way we handle all of our other projects. We will come out and discuss your options and ideas, and come up with a detailed written estimate. Once the plan is in place, we get to work and you can look forward to soon having a new room added to your home.
